It’s day four of Peace Through Action’s Week of Peace through Action, our call to action series timed to coincide with the annual observance of Peace Day this September 21.
Yesterday, we introduced our peace agents national service program and explained how it will follow the AmeriCorps model (but without federal funding yet) to create community peace by increasing capacity of community members to implement practical peaceful solutions.
And, we announced our peace agents program collaboration with DC Peace Team.
Today, we are delighted to announce a second of our selected U.S. communities for the peace agents program—Calvert County, Maryland.
We’re excited about this project for a few reasons.Foremost, it’s an opportunity to uplift and extend the impressive community-building work a team of youth and adult volunteers are pursuing together as #OurCommonCalvert.
Second, this project, once funded, will take Peace Through Action’s mission delivery beyond our home city of Washington DC and thereby advance our intention of being a national-scope organization.
We can’t wait to see peace increase in Calvert County, Maryland after a Peace Through Action peace agent has been funded, assigned, and supported to make their mark!
