Jennifer Cowart, of Austin, Texas, is an AmeriCorps program compliance advisor to Peace Through Action USA. Jennifer is responsible for developing Peace Through Action’s future AmeriCorps program management system to a level of 1) excellence and endurance among the national network of AmeriCorps programs; 2) full compliance with AmeriCorps requirements; and 3) readiness to operate immediately upon receipt of an eventual AmeriCorps program award.

Jennifer brings to this position over 20 years of experience in the AmeriCorps field, including grant writing, training facilitation, program coaching, systems development, and policies and procedures development. Jennifer is an independent consultant and managing partner of On3Learn. Previous positions include AmeriCorps program director for AmeriCorps Youth Harvest and Communities In Schools of Central Texas, continuing professional development facilitator for primary schools in Chitipa, Malawi through Voluntary Service Overseas and a middle school special education teacher. Jennifer served two years as an AmeriCorps member with Teach For America in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Jennifer is an active volunteer with both of her son’s schools and their Scout pack and troop. Jennifer holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from Southern Methodist University. Jennifer also holds certifications in teaching for K-12 generic special education and as a civic reflection trainer.

Jennifer is motivated to advise Peace Through Action on the planning of its future AmeriCorps program because she believes in the power of change that can occur through AmeriCorps for both beneficiaries and the AmeriCorps members.
