Peace Through Action USA’s 2023 Transgender Short Film Festival celebrates Pride Month with a free one-night-only virtual screening of several short films that increase public knowledge, challenge stereotypes, and promote the visibility of the queer and trans community. Viewers will explore a range of short films that seek to remedy the absence of authentic representations of transgender people’s lives and experiences in the mainstream commercial media. Enriched by reflections from trans people and trans community leaders, this free film festival will broaden public awareness with an emphasis on personal reflection, community empowerment, and actionable strategies to increase peace and social cohesion. We strive for this space to be a safe container that will encourage viewers to suspend and dispel stereotypes in order to invite new understandings.
