Truth Commissions | Peace Through Action USA

What are Truth Commissions?

The U.S. Institute of Peace defines a truth commission (also known as a truth and reconciliation or truth and justice commission) as an official body, usually set up by a state after periods of state-perpetrated violence, whose main task is to establish a record of wrongdoing as part of an overall process of catharsis and reconciliation.
