Peaceful Youth Leaders Program Summary

Peace Through Action’s Peaceful Youth Leaders program cultivates servant leadership skills, nurtures social and emotional growth, and fosters civic engagement, with an emphasis on peace among middle school- and high school-aged youth.

Since 2022, Peace Through Action has been developing and field-testing Peaceful Youth Leaders in school and community settings. We are now refining the curriculum and preparing it for national dissemination in 2027.

The program is designed for youth development organizations, residential youth programs, community centers, and spiritual communities. Organizations can use individual lessons to supplement their existing programs or use the full curriculum as a year-long servant leadership development program.

Our Peaceful Youth Leaders

Peace Through Action USA welcomes organizations and groups that work with young people to help prepare them to become peaceful youth leaders.

Peaceful Youth Leaders learn practical skills they can use in their relationships, schools, and communities. The program gives young people opportunities to explore leadership, build compassion, communicate constructively, navigate conflict, respond to harm, and take action to create positive change.

The curriculum is practical and focused on real-world application. Each lesson gives young people an opportunity to experience, reflect, learn new skills, and consider how they can apply what they have learned.

Peaceful Youth Leaders Components

Peace Through Action USA’s Peaceful Youth Leaders program includes:

19 units and 38 lessons covering leadership, personal growth, compassion, communication, conflict resolution, dialogue, prejudice reduction, responding to harm, relationship repair, restorative practices, and community action.
A flexible, modular curriculum that can be used as a complete year-long program, during an intensive program, or as individual lessons that supplement existing youth programming.
Experiential learning that starts with an engaging experience and gives participants time to explore, reflect, make meaning, learn new skills, and apply them to real situations.
Four phases of learning that move from building a foundation, to navigating relationships, to facing harm with courage, and finally to creating peace through action.
