Signs of Peace Through Action

An Election Reflection | A Call to Action
By: Peace Through Action USA
Nov 6, 2026

Weren’t the 2026 mid-term elections something!

I will leave it to the politicians, pollsters, pundits, and professors to dissect every jot and tittle of the “blue wave.” The high-level view is that this election cycle’s voters are unhappy about the exorbitant cost of living, our military activity in the Middle East, and corruption by government officials and their associates. They blame the president’s public policy and personal choices for these stressors.

Many voters also brought to the polls their exhaustion from the president and his circle’s litany of negative behaviors. Coarse words. Crass conduct. Cruel public policies. These behaviors are contrary to peaceful societies. Peace Through Action® USA repudiates them.

For those who factored their disgust with public nastiness into their candidate choices, the election results feel like a pressure tank has had its toxic gas (safely) released and pleasing laughing gas is now circulating in its stead. They and we hope it will last.

Hope is not a strategy. What is deliberate is taking action to keep the kindness wave rolling.
How each chooses to act will differ. Some will sustain engagement in politics and public policy. Still others will return their attention to, or seek, non-governmental solutions.
Peace Through Action® has apolitical things you can do!

Activities that help you fortify, or develop for the first time, your social and emotional skills –reduce your own prejudices, hold respectful group dialogue, de-escalate interpersonal conflicts, stand up for your neighbors on the margins.
Maybe you want to get more involved in your community on a cause you care about. We have an activity to help you with that.

You could start by exploring a social harm or becoming familiar with a peace practice.
These are Peace Through Action’s ways to help people riding the 2026 midterms kindness wave stay standing on their boards. And for new peace-seekers to step into the water.

Join us in replacing coarseness, crassness, and cruelty with civility, courtesy, and compassion. Each of us, doing our small part, will contribute to the national social healing the American people crave, as the 2026 election results suggest. Here’s how.

Sincerely,

Bob Reeg, Chief Executive Officer
