Kerrie Walzer, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, is a Master of Social Work intern with Peace Through Action USA. Kerrie is responsible for designing and developing Peace Through Action’s Peace Accelerators activity to help ordinary Americans plan actions they will take to increase peace in their homes and communities.
Kerrie brings to this position a long history of engaging with and building up communities in various settings throughout the southern Maryland region. In addition to interning with Peace Through Action USA, Kerrie works as a community school program manager at Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Previous positions include family service specialist with the Judy Center and chair of Gruopo Bienstar, a grassroots outreach group in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Kerrie is an active volunteer with the NAACP and St. Mary’s Caring soup kitchen. Kerrie holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Salisbury University. Kerrie is pursuing a Master of Social Work from Salisbury University.
Kerrie is motivated to intern with Peace Through Action because “I believe that all communities have the right to have a safe and peaceful place to live no matter their race, social status, or gender. I continue to drive forward the education of others in order for them to advocate for not only themselves but for others in their community.”
